Maine names Ferraro defensive coordinator

Orono, ME –  Paul Ferraro has returned to the University of Maine football program to deserve as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach under Jack Cosgrove.

Ferraro, who was the Black Bears' linebackers coach in 1989, has been an assistant coach in the NFL since 2005, including the last three seasons as the St. Louis Rams linebackers coach.

"Paul Ferraro will be a great addition to our Black Bear coaching staff," Cosgrove said. "We have worked together before here at Maine and he is very familiar with our program. His experiences, both as a college and professional coach, will help our entire football operation. We are very excited and fortunate that he is joining our staff."

Ferraro has been a defensive coordinator previously at Rutgers (2001-04), Bowling Green (1991-98), Dartmouth (1987) and Villanova (1984-86).

Maine finished 9-4 and reached the FCS quarterfinals last season.
