Nuggets' Fernandez has successful back surgery Mar 29th 2012, 20:31 Denver, CO –  Denver Nuggets guard Rudy Fernandez underwent successful back surgery on Thursday and will miss the remainder of the 2011-12 season. Fernandez missed 12 games with a lower back strain and the injury flared up against the Dallas Mavericks on March 19, prompting further evaluation and more diagnostic testing. In 31 games for Denver this season, Fernandez averaged 8.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.03 steals. He was acquired by the Nuggets, along with Corey Brewer, from Dallas in exchange for a future second-round pick on December 13, 2011.
