Cleveland, OH – Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson has a torn tendon in his left ankle.
The Cavs revealed the news on Tuesday, saying that Gibson underwent an MRI and examination from Dr. Richard Parker at the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Sports Health that exposed the damage.
Gibson originally hurt the ankle during a March 19 game against the New Jersey Nets, and x-rays taken at the time were negative. However, the affected area did not respond well to treatment given during the remainder of the club's road trip, which took Cleveland to Atlanta and Orlando.
The 26-year-old will undergo further treatment and evaluation but no timetable for his return or recovery has been set.
A Texas product in his sixth NBA campaign, Gibson is averaging 7.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 35 games this year.
