Key Biscayne, FL – Rafael Nadal continued his bid to win his round victory over Radek Stepanek on Sunday.
The Spanish former world No. 1, seeded second, cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over the 25th-seeded Czech veteran. Nadal, who improved to 6-0 against Stepanek, was the runner-up to Novak Djokovic last year and was also a finalist in 2005 and 2008.
He will next face off against Japanese No. 16 seed Kei Nishikori, who earned a 6-4, 6-2 decision over unseeded Czech Lukas Rosol.
Fourth-seeded Andy Murray also moved on when Canadian upstart Milos Raonic, seeded 26th after two tour wins this season, withdrew with an ankle sprain.
The Scotsman and 2009 Miami champion will next take on No. 13 seed Gilles Simon after the Frenchman bested Austria's 22nd-seeded Jurgen Melzer 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
Simon was joined in the fourth round by his compatriot, sixth-seeded Jo- Wilfried Tsonga.
Tsonga moved by bouncing 32nd-seeded German Phillipp Kohlschreiber in 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) fashion, and set up a clash with 19th-seeded Florian Mayer of Germany, who knocked off 10th-seeded John Isner in the nightcap.
The big-swinging American, who moved into the world top-10 for the first time after beating current world No. 1 Djokovic and subsequently reaching the final at Indian Wells, fired six aces but could only save seven of the 10 break points he offered.
Another upset of a top-10 player occurred earlier, when 20-year-old Belgian Grigor Dimitrov outlasted seventh-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Finally, ninth-seeded Serb Janko Tipsarevic advanced past 18th-seeded Ukranian Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.
The winner of this $3.973 million ATP Masters 1000 tournament will claim $659,775.
