MLB suspends two minor league players
Mar 27th 2012, 23:05

New York, NY –  Major League Baseball suspended St. Louis Cardinals minor league catcher Cody Stanley and Minnesota Twins minor league pitcher Aaron Thompson 50 games each on Tuesday.

The suspensions were handed down following violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Stanley, who is currently on the roster of the Single-A Quad Cities River Bandits, received his ban for testing positive for methylhexaneamine and tamoxifen, while Thompson, who is on the roster of the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings, was banned after a second violation for a drug of abuse.

Both suspensions will be effective at the start of the 2012 season.
