UT Martin names Byrd defensive coordinator Mar 29th 2012, 22:58 Martin, TN –  The UT Martin football program has named Jeff Byrd its new defensive coordinator, head coach Jason Simpson announced Thursday. Byrd arrived at UT Martin from Arkansas Tech, where he coached linebackers and served as the defensive coordinator since spring practice of 2009. He also was the defensive coordinator at Southern Arkansas (2005-08) and Northwest Mississippi Community College (2003-04), and a co-defensive coordinator at Mars Hill (2002). Martin also announced Eric Stuedemann as a new assistant coach who will work with quarterbacks. UT Martin finished 5-6 overall and 4-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference last season.
