Weather stops play in Texas with Cabrera, Pettersson in lead
Mar 29th 2012, 22:15

Humble, TX –  Angel Cabrera and Carl Pettersson fired seven- under 65s on Thursday before inclement weather halted the first round at the Houston Open.

A big storm dumped more than an inch of rain on the Tournament Course at Redstone Golf Club and caused a long delay. Play was stopped for over three hours before officials called play for the day.

The first round will resume Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. (ET).

Cabrera's two PGA Tour wins were both majors. He won the 2007 U.S. Open, then claimed the 2009 Masters. Pettersson is a four-time winner on the PGA Tour, with his last title coming at the 2010 Canadian Open.

Jeff Maggert and Ricky Barnes are one stroke off the lead at minus-six. Jim Herman also stands at six-under, but completed only 15 holes.

PGA Champion Keegan Bradley carded a five-under 67. He was joined in sixth place by James Driscoll and Bud Cauley. Graham DeLaet also stands at minus- five and has a three-foot par putt on the ninth, his last, when play resumes on Friday.

Defending champion Phil Mickelson was one-under par through three holes. His two playing partners -- 2003 winner Fred Couples and reigning Masters champion Charl Schwartzel -- are also one-under after three.
