| Cardinals' Schumaker has torn oblique muscle Mar 19th 2012, 23:20 Lake Buena Vista, FL – St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Skip Schumaker has a torn right oblique muscle, which likely means he will start the season on the disabled list. The extent of the injury was determined during an MRI exam on Monday. Schumaker sustained the injury during an at-bat on Friday. It is the same injury that caused him to miss the National League Championship Series last year. There is no timetable for Schumaker's return to baseball activities. In 117 games last season, Schumaker hit .283 with two homers and 38 RBI. He also batted .381 with four runs batted in during 11 postseason contests. | |
