Mets SS Turner leaves game
May 28th 2012, 18:37

Flushing, NY –  New York Mets shortstop Justin Turner left Monday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies in the third inning with a right ankle strain.

With two outs in the third inning and Rob Johnson on second, Turner hit a single to right that saw Johnson held at third.

Turner, though, was caught up between first and second and was eventually tagged out by Jimmy Rollins during a brief run-down.

As Rollins applied the tag to Turner's back, he planted his right foot awkwardly on first base.

He immediately fell to the ground in obvious pain and eventually had to be helped off the field. The team later announced that he had the ankle injury and that x-rays were negative.

The Mets made several adjustments to their lineup after Turner left with David Wright moving from third base to shortstop.
