May 29th 2012, 22:24

Daytona Beach, FL –  NASCAR on Tuesday handed down penalties to two Nationwide Series teams for rule infractions that occurred last weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Rick Ware Racing's No. 41 car failed post-race inspection for the May 26 History 300 at Charlotte when NASCAR officials discovered the front end of it did not meet the minimum height requirement.

Driver Timmy Hill and car owner Rick Ware were penalized with a loss of six points each, while crew chief George Church received a $10,000 fine and was put on probation until December 31.

Richard Petty Motorsports' No. 43 team received penalties for violations discovered during the May 24 opening-day inspection process. The No. 43 car, driven by Michael Annett was found to have an illegal front upper bumper cover on it.

Both crew chief Philippe Lopez and car chief Michael Wright have been placed on probation for the remainder of the year. Lopez also received a $10,000 fine. The team was not docked any points.
