Brandon McCarthy (4-3) gave up just two runs on eight hits with a pair of walks and two strikeouts over six innings to win his fourth straight decision. Jeff Francoeur had two hits and an RBI while Jarrod Dyson added three hits and a run scored for the Royals, who had won five of six coming in, including the opener of this three-game series Friday. Luke Hochevar (3-6) gave up six runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings and lost his third straight decision.

St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Brian Matusz pitched into the eighth inning to help the Baltimore Orioles nip the Tampa Bay Rays, 2-1, in the second contest of a three-game set. Matusz (5-5) gave up just one run on two hits with three walks and seven strikeouts over 7 1/3 innings for the Orioles, who snapped a six-game losing streak. Endy Chavez hit a solo home run while Mark Reynolds scored the winner in the seventh inning for Baltimore, which moved back into a tie for first place in the AL East with Tampa Bay. Drew Sutton drove in the lone run of the game for the Rays, who have dropped five of seven. Jeremy Hellickson (4-2) gave up two runs -- one earned -- on four hits with a walk and eight strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - John Jaso laced a go-ahead RBI double in the top of the twelfth inning to lift the Mariners to a 10-8 victory over the White Sox in the second leg of a three-game set at U.S. Cellular Field. Jesus Montero ripped a leadoff double off of Addison Reed (0-1) to start the frame and Jaso followed two batters later with a double into the gap in right- center, scoring pinch-runner Munenori Kawasaki from second. Chone Figgins then scorched a single through the hole on the left side of the infield to plate Jaso and give the Mariners a two-run cushion. Tom Wilhelmsen (2-1) tossed three scoreless frames in relief to record the victory while Hisashi Iwakuma blanked the Sox in the ninth to record his second save. Ichiro Suzuki homered twice, while Michael Saunders and Justin Smoak also went deep for the Mariners, who snapped a seven-game skid against the Sox. A.J. Pierzynski, Alex Rios, Gordon Beckham and Dayan Viciedo all clubbed homers in the setback as the White Sox had their nine-game win streak halted.
