| Garza shuts down Phillies Apr 29th 2012, 20:44 Philadelphia, PA – Starlin Castro drove in two runs and Matt Garza was nearly flawless on the mound over seven innings, as the Chicago Cubs beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-1, in the third installment of a four-game set at Citizens Bank Park. Garza (2-1) gave up a single to the first batter he faced and didn't allow another base runner until issuing a one-out walk in the seventh. The right- hander recorded 10 strikeouts, including the 800th of his career. Rafael Dolis succeeded Garza and tossed a 1-2-3 eighth before being replaced by Carlos Marmol, who gave up a single and walked three in the ninth, including Ty Wigginton with the bases loaded. Shane Victorino grounded out to end the game. | |
